Mission Statement

The Graduate School–Newark (GSN) supervises approximately 1,000 graduate students in 18 masters programs and 14 doctoral (Ph.D.) programs that are run by over 350 graduate faculty members from the life, physical and social sciences as well as the arts, humanities, administration, and business. The GSN is a major center for scholarship and intellectual life on our Newark campus and in the greater New Jersey and New York metropolitan area.  Within Rutgers, it is a staunch advocate for graduate students and graduate programs that support excellence in graduate training and post-degree success.  Thanks to its mix of nationally ranked graduate programs, its location within a dynamic metropolitan city, its proximity to other universities and research centers, and its uniquely diverse student body, the GSN ensures that its students are making important regional, national, and global contributions.
