ESL and Bilingual Urban Education
Program Description
The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in ESL and Bilingual Urban Education situates multiliteracies at its core. Students will utilize the humanities as the mechanism by which to address racialized, gendered, and intersectional experiences of cultural, linguistic, and disability identities.
The MAT program offers pathways in two certification areas: Bilingual/Bicultural Education and teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). With these certification pathways, current and future teachers will be better positioned to address the needs of the P-12 students and significantly increase their own professional employability.
