Special Programs
Undergraduate students enrolled at Rutgers University - Newark who have completed at least 30 undergraduate credits at Rutgers-Newark are eligible to apply to one of our accelerated master's programs during the second semester of their junior year. While each program has its own specific application requirements, all applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2 to be considered for any accelerated program.

Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI)
The seven-week institute is designed for undergraduate students in the STEM fields who plan to pursue graduate programs or medical school after graduation.
Program participants participate in hands-on lab experiences in a range of fields, including kinesiology, psychology, mathematics, cell biology, herpetology, geology, neuroscience, and atmospheric chemistry.

International Graduate Student Institute (IGSI)
The one-week institute is designed to work with international teaching assistants (ITAs). The mission of the IGSI is to help graduate students for whom English is a second language understand the culture and norms of college classrooms in the U.S., as well as provide opportunities for teaching practice as they work on developing their language skills in their disciplines.
