Graduate Nondegree Program

Interested in beginning graduate study but not yet ready to submit a formal application?  Consider enrolling as a nondegree student!

  • The nondegree program allows you to take up to 12 graduate credits before you formally apply to a program.  These 12 credits will count toward your degree should you apply and gain admission.

  • A bachelor's degree is REQUIRED.  Letters of recommendation, GRE scores, and college transcripts are NOT REQUIRED.

  • Only selected courses are open for nondegree enrollment.  Courses marked with an asterisk (*) are available without a special permission number from the department.  Courses marked with a pound (#) sign require a special permission number on the Course Request Form from the program chair, dean, or faculty instructor.   Courses without the asterisk or pound sign are NOT available to nondegree students.

If you instead view the Online Schedule of Classes , in place of the asterisk you will read AVAILABLE FOR NM STUDENTS; in place of the pound sign, you will read NM STU NEED INST OR PROG DIR APPV.  Courses with neither notation are NOT open to nondegree enrollment.

If you are interested in Global Affairs, please select appropriate courses in Political Science.

  • Nondegree enrollment is available in the following subject areas:

Chemistry                             Liberal Studies
Criminal Justice                    Nursing
